All the writing I have done in the last month….

…could fit on the back of a postage stamp! Grrrrr! I just can’t concentrate, it’s really getting old.
I do have one new book at a critique-r’s now so hopefully that might see the light of day.
As far as the ‘Shadow of the Nephilmn’ Trilogy goes, Raziel, Elora and Lucy have completely abandoned me, so any help you can give in summoning them back would be appreciated! The second book ‘Of Blood and Feathers’ is written, but only in draft form, so will need a LOT of work. The frame work is there and it’s pretty action packed. We have a new character or two and my beloved Lucy is never far away.

The third book has no name at present and is something of a patchwork quilt of scenes with no real structure, but I know where I want it to go, it’s just getting there! I’m thinking I might have killed my muses off with sugar as I have been binging on Ms. Cupcake’s cupcakes. I ate 6 in two days, and they’re not little things!
OMG they’re so good. If you’re ever in London, head to Brixton and find the shop…they’re vegan…BUT they don’t taste it. I will be the first to admit that some vegan alternatives are AWFUL, but these honest to Lucifer are better than any non vegan ones I had before I turned Vegan. The ones I had were (if my memory serves) Strawberry, chocolate and peanut butter, mint choc chip, red velvet, lemon and…uh…can’t remember, but they were so good! See pic below!

And we all know what cupcakes equal;

Add my NaNoWriMo¬†widget to this blog? It only seems to give me the option to use their ready made widgets and I want to put a word count NaNo one up ūüė¶

Block and stupid wrists

I was doing voluntary work at the primary school where my mum works and they had me covering and labelling books. I have no problem with boring repetitive¬†jobs (all the more time to daydream about Norman Reedus) but it has caused me awful pains in my wrists. This means I can’t do any of the things I love I.E Pole (I’ve missed about three weeks now) or large amounts of typing. Not a happy bunny. This isn’t helped by the fact that¬†the weather is rubbish! Grey skies from now until April I think urgh! On the plus side, I did see an awesome motivator that pointed out that girls don’t have to shave their legs until April lol. Unfortunately due to pole classes, I do shave. I shave more for my pole girls than I ever have for a guy. TMI, but c’est la vie. Can you tell I’m bored as I can’t write?

I’ve been reading a lot and finished ‘One Day’ by David Nicholls ridiculously quickly. It’s a sweet enough book and I’ll admit I did see a lot of myself in Emma Morley. Go read it, it’s good. I wasn’t happy with the ending, but there we go.

Other than not, nothing much to tell. The pubslush¬†appeal has been ditched¬†as it just wasn’t happening. I’m thinking of using Createspace¬†to get ‘Of Darkness and Light’ into print, but I’m struggling with finding a cover designer. Don’t get me wrong, there are loads of talented peeps out there, but they’re not doing what I want. I’m picky, what can I say.¬†I just figure if I’m going to do it, I should do it properly with something I am 100% happy with. If you know anyone awesome who can work within the constraints¬†of createspace¬†(I really have no clue how it works) get in contact. Bare in mind I’m poor so nothing ridiculously¬†expensive, unless they will take a kidney as payment. I don’t smoke, drink or do drugs, so my kidney must be in pretty good condition. One careful owner….lol.

THE WALKING DEAD SEASON THREE IS COMING SOON! OMG OMG OMG! I have a sad, sad life lol

MORE magazine!

Published 10/09/2012 by Lily Crussell

I will be in an aritcle¬†in MORE magazine (comes out tomorrow) obviously it won’t be under my pen name :O so you can see how boring my REAL name is ūüė¶

The article is about asexuality, so is slightly adult in nature. I haven’t told anyone other than my parents and you guys so I will probably be getting some scared¬†emails from people I know! For those who haven’t heard the term, Asexuality is a lack of desire¬†or want of sexual relations. Essentially I want every other part of the relationship (kissing, cuddling etc) just not the sex part. I’ve been asked why I’m doing an article when I haven’t even told friends, but I want people to realise what it is. I live in a world where sex is forced down my throat from every direction, and it’s not particularly pleasant. Most people have never even heard of it, so I’m hoping to raise awareness.

Last Tue I went to London to do a photoshoot¬†and interview in a Hotel in the psher¬†area of London. I rocked up in a pair of jeans, getting appalled looks from the staff that worked there! Ooops! They spent over two hours doing makeup and hair, which was new for me as I’ve never had anything like that done before. I’m pretty rubbish at being a girl if I’m honest! The stylist put curls in my hair which I was waaaaaaaay¬†too excited about! Once that was all done, the photos were taken. I’m not going to lie, I used to think models had an easy life, but I’ve learned it’s not much fun being contorted and twisted and being made to sit in painful positions for hours. I won’t be¬†persuing¬†a career in this field that’s for sure! The positions that looked ‘natural’ were ways I would never sit or lie as they were bent¬†all over the place! Between shots, my hair would be fussed over, my clothes etc. Whilst it was a lot of fun for a one off, I couldn’t do it daily. I’d probably go crazy!

The hotel room had a gorgeous four¬†poster bed and was ridiculously posh. I felt out of place¬†just being there! All the staff were amasingly¬†reassuring and sweet and they couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly. Once the photos were done, and I managed to FINALLY get the skinniest skinny jeans in the world off, everyone left and it was time for the interview. That was surprisingly easy too as it was just like chatting to a friend. Everyone was wonderful as I’d been utterly terrfied! I wish I’d taken some photos of the room as there’s no way I’ll ever be in anywhere that posh again lol!

Anyhoo, if you’re UK, check it out tomorrow!

Endings! Booyah!

Published 19/08/2012 by Lily Crussell

Ok, the topic was a bit of a lie, there will be no Booyah¬†included in this post…possibly. I need to stop saying and writing it along with ‘AWESOME!’ which I say waaaaay too much.

ANYWAY!

More on what I learned on the writing course I went on (not much unfortunately, I think it was aimed¬†at people who haven’t even started their books!) I was sat¬†next to a lady¬†called…I think Helen…who was proudly telling me she had written 8,000 in six months. I smiled, nodded and congratulated her. She asked how many words I had managed in the last six months. I told her that in two weeks I managed 100,000. I wasn’t trying to boast (though I am slightly proud) but I don’t like lying. Her mouth dropped. Everyone then spent the rest of the session teasing me for each exercise that we did as I was scribbling away madly, churning out four hundred words in 10 minutes¬†or less. My point to them was, that doesn’t mean it’s any good. One woman had been going to writing courses and groups for 55 years and STILL hadn’t started her work. What?!? She must have spent a small fortune on classes in her life, and they obviously weren’t doing her any good because she was yet to put pen to paper- or fingers to keyboard.

Anyway, we did a small bit about Endings. Some authors struggle with endings. An example the tutor gave was with ‘The Lovely Bones’ (I haven’t read it) which is apparently an amazing book that should end a long time before it actually does. Some people are intuitive of when it is time to end the work, others struggle.

We were given a list of the different types;

1. Closed – Self explanitory, the ending happens and that’s it. There isn’t much room for interpretation because we have been made¬†aware of what has happend.

2. Open – The ending is left unanswered in the sense that we are given some details, but we decide what we think has happened to the characters.

3. Cliff Hanger РOften used for the first in a series of books, or sometimes just used in single volume. This can often be unsatisfactory though in the case of the single book.

4. Circular.

5. Deus ex Machina (God of the Machine) – Having done Classics at school, I can tell you this was frequently¬†used in Greek theatre as a way of coming to a conclusion, often in a way that’s a bit too convieniant. In the case of one play, gods come down and fix everything, the end. It can be used well in comedy though, especially if it is mocking others works that have tried to use this seriously.

Love and Hugs y’all
